Scilab Workshop
A workshop on Scilab started from 5th August, 2013 at Scholar's Institute of Technology & Management, Guwahati. The workshop is attended by faculties and will be extended to the students in near future. The workshop is conducted by SPOKEN TUTORIAL Project on FOSS (Free and Open Source Software). Spoken Tutorial project is a Talk to a teacher project activity of the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (ICT), launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India.
Languages and packages being taught under Spoken-Tutorial are Linux, Scilab, Python, PHP and MySQL, LaTeX, C/C++, Java etc. The college plans to extend the workshop after completing the online test for Scilab.
The use of spoken tutorials to popularize software development and its use is coordinated through the website, http://spoken-tutorial.org. (The Spoken Tutorial project is being developed by IIT Bombay for MHRD, GOI). The project conducts software training workshops using spoken tutorials and give certificates to those who pass an online test.
